COMING FROM SANDTON:

Get onto the Concrete Highway (Western Bypass) traveling towards Roodepoort. You will stay on this highway for approximately 104km’s. The highway will cross over the Vaal River (eventually) and you will pass through one tollgate. (R8.50)

Approximately 104km’s from William Nicol, you will see the off-ramp for PARYS / SASOLBURG (R59). This off-ramp is just before a second tollgate.

Take this off-ramp. Turn right at the top of the off-ramp (over the highway towards Parys). Travel approximately 20km to Parys.

When you get into Parys and the road becomes dual lane, keep in the right hand lane (this will ensure that you don’t go wrong).

A short distance into Parys, you will see a Shell Garage on your left and a Caltex on your right. Directly after this, you could either go straight, or fork right – FORK RIGHT and follow the road through a very long, wide S-bend. Stay on this road (it will take you out the other end of Parys and is headed towards VREDEFORT).

As you are coming out of Parys, there is a cemetery on the right hand side. Approximately 2.5km from the cemetery, you will see a sign for SCHOEMANSDRIFT, as well as a sign-board for HAKUNA MATATA ADVENTURES.

Turn right at this point. The road you have just turned onto will change to a sand road within a couple of meters. You will find that you are traveling parallel to the Vaal River, just a little bit inland. Keep a look-out towards your right and you will catch glimpses of it as you go. We are in the mountains ahead of you – enjoy the view.

Approximately 2.5km along the sand road, you will cross over a small (very tiny) bridge. After the bridge bare right.

Approximately 4.5km from the bridge, you will get to a T-Junction with sign-boards for HAKUNA MATATA ADVENTURES and HADEDA CREEK. Turn right towards HAKUNA MATATA.

The entrance to HABULA LODGE (our farm) is 6km from this turn-off.

Prior to getting to us, you will go through a sharp bend to the left, at which point you would have come to a point on the river bank (lovely little view of the river here). After the bend, you will pass RIVER TOURS AND SAFARI'S / HADEDA CREEK – our entrance is approximately 3km from this point.

Directly before the entrance, you will pass 3 small, gray brick, servants quarters with red roofs.

The entrance is simply a little dirt track to the left, with two stone pillars on either side. You then drive through another farm before reaching ours. When you pass through another gate, you have reached Habula Lodge – WELCOME!!! The gate house is approximately 400m from the entrance off the road.

If, by any chance, you miss the entrance to the farm, you will see a dirt road going to the left. If you get to this road, you have gone too far – turn around and go back.
