Eastern Cape Geography

The Eastern Cape is wetter in the eastern regions, with the west being semiarid Karoo, and the far south Tsitsikamma region a temperate rainforest region. Most of the province is hilly to mountainous between Graaff-Reinet and Rhodes including the Sneeuberge, Stormberge, Winterberge and Drakensberg with the coastline being rugged with interspersed beaches. Ben Macdhui is the highest point of the province at 3001m. The eastern regions of the province, from East London towards the Kwa-Zulu Natal border, is rich grassland with scattered forest. The Transkei region of the Eastern Cape is charecterized by rolling hills punctuated by deep gorges.

Eastern Cape borders the following districts of Lesotho in the north: Mohale's Hoek, Quthing, Qacha's Nek

Domestically, it borders the provinces of Western Cape, Northern Cape, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.
