KwaZulu Natal has a diverse yet verdant climate thanks to it's complex topography. The coastal area of the province is generally subtropical with inland regions generally colder. Durban on the south coast of KwaZulu Natal has an annual rainfall of 1009 mm, with daytime maxims peaking from January to March at 28 ° and dropping to daytime highs from June to August of 23 °C. The temperature drops dramatically towards the hinterland of KwaZulu Natal.
