Mtunzini Forest Lodge is situated on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal,
just over an hours drive from Durban.The lodge boasts 22 self catering
wooden chalets, each fully equipped for 3 to 5 people, some with a loft
room for the children, and each offering a private sundeck with a barbeque
area. Situated within the lush vegetation, the sound of the sea can be
heard in the distance, adding to the peaceful ambiance.Twitches restaurant,
situated on the property, provides a pleasant dining experience, the a
la carte menu offering a variety of dishes to suit everyone's taste. A
large sparkling swimming pool and a children's paddling pool are also
available, exclusively for residents. Nature trails through the dune forest
and mangrove swamps uncover many natural treasures and offer guests the
opportunity to experience the natural attractions of the area, which,
with its diverse vegetation, is a bird watchers paradise. Many bird species
may be seen in the splendour of the tranquil and peaceful forests. The
magnificent Raffia Palms are unique to the Mtunzini area, and are home
to the very rare Palmnut Vulture. Mtunzini Forest Lodge is recognised
as a Birder Friendly Establishment. An easy stroll along a magnificent
wooden bridge which crosses the Siyayi River takes one directly to the
unspoilt beaches. Guests can enjoy the serene atmosphere whilst fishing
along the shores.
