Lalapanzi is an old English Tudor style Hotel, originally built in 1947, is situated in the game and cattle breeding area of Bandelierkop, 28 km south of the Soutpansberg Mountain – the most prominent feature of the area. Direct access from the N1. Our thorough-bred, Polocrosse horses are stabled here. Following the tracks of the Skirmishes, the Soutpansberg saw events that involved many British, Australian, German, Swiss, Portuguese, Dutch, North American Indian, local African and Boer involvement. Stories of the Bushveldt Carbineers, Lovedale Park, Battle of Vliegenpan, Sweetwaters Hotel, will be told by a tour guide. This route takes you through the area where the Vha-Venda, ma-Shangaan, isiSotho & Afrikaner are main cultural groups. View this at the Lalapanzi Skirmishes Museum. The diversity of cultures is a major attraction in the rural areas through life styles, traditional dances, clay pots and wood-carvers. The surrounding areas consist of a combination of montane forest, fynbos, plains, bushveld & sub-tropical habits. It boasts with 500 species of trees of which numerous species are endemic. Amongst the vast number of bird species, raptors and vultures can be seen in surrounding conservancies. Access gates of Pafuri & Punda Maria to the 2 million hectare Kruger National Park, which owes its heritage to the last president of the Transvaal Republic, Paul Kruger, are most conveniently reached from our establishment.
