The Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site in Parys
South Africa's seventh World Heritage Site, the Dome shaped Bergland area, is about 120 km from Johannesburg, on both sides of the Vaal River, near the country side towns of Parys and Vredefort.Parys lies within the 'Vredefort' dome which is the remains of an ancient crater. The crater was formed 2000 million years ago
